Simple Machines

Some machines change the size of force needed and some change the distance which resistance moves. Also some change the direction of force and make work way easier. Types of machines include ideal machines, simple machines, and compound machines. An ideal machine is mechanical system in witch energy and power does not slow because of friction. That does not exist there is always friction. A simple machine is machine that gives you a mechanical advantage. Finally a compound machine is a combination of 2 or more simple machines.

In class we created a Rube Goldberg machine in class. First you dropped a ball and then it rolled and hit a toy of a lever that went down on the other side then, that launched a car that hit a block and released a pulley then a weight dropped and hit a button. It did up working the first try but then we could not git it to work again. I think it did not work again because the car that launched did not go fast enough to hit the block down. I think we could have had more car launchers to give it more force. It was really fun to get our entire class to pitch in on it and help make it.

Simple machines are machines that use one movement and make work easier. Some simple machines are levers, pulleys, and inclined planes. A lever is a simple machine because it uses one movement and you can lift heavy objects with little force. There are 3 types of levers a 1st class one is like a seesaw. A second class lever is a wheelbarrow. Finally a third class is a baseball bat. A incline planes are ramps, screws, and a wedge. A knife is an incline plane because it is 2 inclined planes back to back or a wedge.
